How Do You Tell The Difference Between Horse People And Homeless People?

STONY

The picture is Stony my draft mule and he has very little do with this story, but it got you to read it.

Good work Stony!

So, a couple of weeks ago I was working in the barn doing the normal chores all of us horse people who have horses at home do. Some of you who board horses do some of these chores so you know what I'm talking about. We muck stalls, clean tack, and feed our hoofed quadrupeds come rain, cold, heat, swarms of locusts, sharknados, or visits from in-laws.

Back to the barn. I broke a hinge and decided to go to Lowe's to get a new one. As I am walking in I saw a reflection in the glass door of a disheveled homeless man walking right behind me. Then I realized the disheveled guy was me!?!

Now I am not talking about a homeless person like someone who has just hit a rough patch and ends up sleeping in a shelter or a Camry. Let's call them "Type A" homeless people.

I am talking about the homeless guy who lives in a cardboard box under the freeway overpass and spends his days yelling at mailboxes. That is "Type B".

Now I am wondering if Lowe's management will be tracking the movements of the big Type B homeless guy on their security cameras. Should I wave at the cameras? Go to the men's room and clean up a bit? Nah, I've got a hinge to buy for my barn.

So this all begs the question, how do you tell the difference between horse people and Type B homeless people? I guess you can't, except that on some days the horse people might smell better. But then again, that's a matter of opinion.

By the way, none of the comments above were meant to denigrate homeless people or horse people. Most all are good people and the Type B's can be very interesting.
